Publications & Downloads The Trans PULSE Project is both a research project and a knowledge broker. Ensuring that our research findings are relevant and accessible to community members is an important component of our projects goals. Also important is focusing efforts on mobilizing our research efforts so that they have a meaningful impact on health, service delivery, and policy reform. We will be developing and synthesizing data and making this available in a number of different formats. We hope to target our publications to various audiences so that we are able to reach a diversity of people and have the broadest influence. The diversity of audiences we hope to reach includes policy-makers, physicians and allied health professionals, social service workers and staff, and most significantly community members, lobbyists, advocates, and allies. CONFERENCE PRESENTATIONS - The following documents represent presentations that have been given by project members over the last few years. These are frequently updated, so check back often for new presentations with up-to-date results from the project's phases.
VIDEO - The following is a promotional video produced by members of Trans PULSE's Community Engagement Team and Investigators' Committee. The purpose of the video was to help promote the Project and the distribution of the survey. READY-TO-USE DOWNLOADABLES - Over the course of the project, we will be producing useful information pieces such as stand-alone graphs or figures. We welcome these to be used by community members, professionals, lobbyists, and others working to improve the health of trans communities and the services available to them. We will also be producing several series of slide sets that can be integrated into presentations as well as developing articles that are ready-to-use in your community, in a professional newsletter, or to be circulated via e-mail. We hope that these will raise awareness about the Trans PULSE Project and about relevant trans health issues. PROJECT REPORT - These in-depth reports provide overviews of the research project, current members, opportunities for involvement, key findings of the particular phase, and other useful information.
JOURNAL ARTICLES - The publication of research findings in peer-reviewed journals is an important step in making data more widely available. Peer-reviewed publications also provide a much stronger validation and authority to research findings. This authority is important for health professionals as well as those working in other fields where evidence-based practice requires that professional practice is built around data published in such venues. While they are very important for these reasons, we realize that journal articles should not be the only output of a research project. We recognize that peer-reviewed journal articles are not accessible, financially or conceptually, to the vast majority of people. Articles are expensive to purchase if one is not connected to a post-secondary institution. In response to the cost issue, we aim to publish as many of our articles as possible in open-access journals. These would allow everyone access to the publication at no cost. Articles from journals that are not open access can be requested by contacting us at info@transpulse.ca.
